WHAT ARE CERAMIC DISC VALVES?

TAPS WITH CERAMIC DISC VALVES - THE BENEFITS!

Thankfully, in the most part, the days of washer/compression based tap valves are in the past and the ceramic disc valve is the norm. Unfortunately, from time to time,  in cheaper value engineered products, you may still find these less efficient solutions.

Every kitchen tap that we sell at IINTRA is fitted with a ceramic disc valve and the reasons for this is simple, they are a lot more reliable!

HOW DO CERAMIC DISC VALVES WORK?

These valves, also known as cartridges, contain two ceramic discs which have holes through them.

One of the discs is fixed in place, the other moves when you operate the taps lever. At the point that the holes in both discs align, water is then allowed to pass through the tap. When you turn off the tap, the discs move out of alignment and the water stops.

CAN YOU REPLACE THESE VALVES?

Yes you can – It is actually a reasonably straight forward task to undertake if you are a competent DIY’er, however, if you are unsure in anyway we would always recommend that you appoint a professional.

ARE THE VALVES EXPENSIVE?

Not really, no. You can browse and buy our range of replacement cartridges here which are a fraction of the cost of replacing the entire tap itself – shop ceramic valves.

HOW LONG DO THE VALVES LAST?

A great question! It is very much down to how hard the water is in your area. At IINTRA we guarantee our valves to be free of leaks as well as functional failure (uneven hot/cold mixing) for a period of 5 years, however they often last a great deal longer.
