WHAT IS A TAP AERATOR?
Tap aerators, which are also known as flow regulators, are small device that are fitted to all of the IINTRA taps.
In some cases these devices are fitted to the end of the tap spout or spray head and are therefore removable, in others they are fixed inside.
They are designed to save water by controlling the level of water flowing through the tap but without affecting the actual water pressure.
HOW DO TAP AERATORS WORK?
The tap aerator mixes together the water coming out of the tap with air. Acting like a sort of sieve, the aerator separates the water flow into tiny little streams, introducing air into the water flow. As a result there is less space for the water to flow through therefore the amount of water passing via the tap spout or spray head is reduced, resulting in water savings.
With the overall water pressure being maintained, most people don’t even notice that they are using less water!
CAN YOU REPLACE THESE AERATORS?
Yes you can in some tap designs but in others you cannot. We would only recommend that you do this if you are a competent DIY’er – if not, please seek professional help.
Each one of the IINTRA tap aerators are defined as either “Integrated” or “Removable”.
If they are “integrated”, and you have an issue with the aerator, then we would advise that you replace the spray head itself. For more help, please contact us.
If they are “removable” then you can take them off and replace them with a new aerator which you can buy here.
HOW LONG DO THE AERATORS LAST?
A great question! It is very much down to how hard the water is in your area. At IINTRA we guarantee our aerators to be free of leaks for a period of 1 year, however they often last a great deal longer.
