Thankfully, in the most part, the days of washer/compression based tap valves are in the past and the ceramic disc cartridges are the norm. Unfortunately, from time to time,  in cheaper value engineered products, you may still find these less efficient solutions.

Every kitchen tap that we sell at IINTRA is fitted with a ceramic disc valve and the reasons for this is simple, they are a lot more reliable!
